Deadly But Often Preventable

Lung Cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Kentucky and Kentuckians are killed by the disease at rates 50 percent higher than the national average. Lung cancer is a dangerous disease but is often preventable and treatable if caught in the early stages. Lexington Clinic offers lung cancer screenings using CT scans involving no-contrast dye and minimal exposure to radiation.

Criteria for Screenings

• Currently have a 30 pack-year cigarette smoking history
• Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years
• Currently are asymptomatic and have no signs or symptoms of lung cancer

* If you are 50-77 years old and have Medicare coverage, you may qualify to receive this screening at no cost to you.
