Under the new collaboration, UK Markey Cancer Center at Lexington Clinic will include medical oncology and infusion services currently provided in Lexington; the radiation therapy services and the medical oncology and infusion services in Richmond will also be delivered in coordination with the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center. UK HealthCare is the clinical enterprise for the university. The collaboration will begin June 24.
UK Markey Cancer Center at Lexington Clinic further strengthens Lexington Clinic’s commitment to perfecting the patient experience. UK Markey Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center in Kentucky and one of only 70 in the nation. Patients will benefit from enhanced specialty pharmacy services, supportive treatment services, clinical trials and more.
The UK Markey Cancer Center at Lexington Clinic collaboration will change the billing for some of our patients. For those patients currently receiving services in Richmond, beginning June 24 you will receive your bills from UK instead of from Lexington Clinic. For those patients currently receiving medical oncology and infusion services in Lexington there will be changes to your bills beginning June 24. Lexington Clinic has a designated financial counselor to help answer any billing questions you may have. To speak with our financial counselor, please call (859) 258-6535.
Lexington Clinic Cancer Center providers and physicians will provide services within the UK Markey Cancer Center at Lexington Clinic. For patients receiving care on the Lexington Clinic campus, your providers will remain the same throughout the duration of your care. If you are eligible for advanced cancer care and/or clinical trials, you may need to receive that treatment on the UK campus. For those patients receiving care on UK’s campus, your medical oncologist may still be a part of your treatment plan and will oversee and monitor your treatments.

No, the referral process will remain the same. You will continue to refer patients to Lexington Clinic and UK Markey Cancer Center the same way you currently do.

Through this collaboration, patients will have increased access to advanced cancer treatments and a continuum of care that they require, such as specialty pharmacy services, and expanded network of support services and research-based clinical trials for those who qualify.
