COVID-19 Our New Patient Protocols FAQs

Click on the question to reveal the answer.

A. At Lexington Clinic, we strive to provide the highest quality of health care for our patients and are taking active measures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.

Some of the new measures in place are:

  • Non-traditional waiting rooms have been utilized; patients are asked to call upon arrival and are instructed to wait in their car or outside until we are able to bring them in safely. Some locations may use other non-traditional waiting arrangements.
  • All individuals entering any of our facilities undergo a temperature check as well as a screening for COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Social distancing is actively implemented in all our facilities.
  • Visitors are not permitted at this time. However, patients requiring personal assistance may have one individual accompany them to appointments.
  • Face masks needs to be worn by all, patients and staff, at all times within our facilities.
  • Telehealth appointments are available and encouraged for all specialty and primary care services within Lexington Clinic to minimize chances of exposure to COVID-19.

Note: Detailed information is available on our website at this link: https://www.lexingtonclinic.com/your-safety-is-our-first-priority

A. Face masks needs to be worn by all, patients and staff, at all times within our facilities. If you do not have a face mask, one will be provided to you at the front door.

A. For the safety of our patients and staff during the ongoing pandemic, we have deployed non-traditional waiting rooms. Hence, patients are asked to call upon arrival and are instructed to wait in their car or outside until we are able to bring them in safely.

Some locations like Lexington Clinic East and Saint Joseph Office Park may be using other non-traditional waiting arrangements. It’s better to call ahead and ask for specific check in instructions and protocol.

A. Yes, Lexington Clinic has COVID-19 testing available and offers drive-up testing at an off-site tent location. Call (859) 258-4000 for more information.

A. If you suspect you have COVID-19, please get in touch with your primary care provider and they can assess if you should be tested.

A. Lexington Clinic has partnered with multiple laboratories for processing of COVID-19 testing. Lexington Clinic will determine to which laboratory we send your COVID-19 test based on each laboratory’s availability and capacity at the time you are tested. Depending on which laboratory performs your test, the price could range between $50 - $150. The laboratory determines the price of the test.

For patients with medical insurance, the laboratory will submit the charge to your insurance for processing. Many insurance companies do not bill patients for out-of-pocket costs associated with COVID-19 testing. You should contact your insurance company to determine if your plan will assign out-of-pocket costs for COVID-19 testing.

A. Telehealth appointments are available and encouraged for all specialty and primary care services within Lexington Clinic to minimize chances of exposure to COVID-19.

More information on our telehealth services can be accessed here: https://www.lexingtonclinic.com/telehealth

A. Yes, we offer drive-up clinical laboratory testing at our South Broadway location. Visit our website at www.lexingtonclinic.com/phlebotomy or call (859) 258-5270 for more information.

A. The best way to support your local healthcare professionals is to do your part to ‘flatten the curve’ of the COVID-19 spread. This entails taking proper precautions by practicing social distancing and washing your hands regularly.

Call your primary care offices before going in. Making the call first helps health care workers appropriately prepare for potential exposure to COVID-19, while protecting the patient from unnecessary exposure.

Additionally, Lexington Clinic primary care physicians and specialists are working to provide telehealth visits to patients for routine appointments. Having a telehealth visit rather than an in-office visit reduces risk for potential exposure to illnesses.

Last but not the least, if you know a health care worker, reach out to share your thanks and give them your support. It really does mean a lot. You can also share a message for health care workers on Lexington Clinic’s social media accounts so they know you are thinking of them.

Prevention

There is currently no vaccine to prevent Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The best prevention is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, the CDC always recommends everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:
  • Do not visit Patients if you have flu or cold symptoms: – fever, chills, body aches or cough.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.  If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw away the tissue and wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects (like door knobs and countertops) using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Watch for Symptoms

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms* may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
